Message from Roger Edwards, 2016 Skål Guernsey President.
Our last social function - a delightful dinner in the spectacular surroundings of Les Cotils on June 2 - provided a perfect illustration of Skal Guernsey's popularity among its enthusiastic membership.
Thanks to the efforts of Rob Stein and his excellent team at Les Cotils, some 25 members and guests enjoyed a delightful evening of conviviality and celebration which augurs well for our continued success.
Centre of the celebrations was one of our former presidents, Isabel, whose birthday was toasted by fellow members and her family who joined us for the evening.
Since then your committee has met up to arrange a full social programme of events for the rest of 2016 and into the New Year. Exact venues cannot yet be revealed because, in several instances, they don't yet know that we're coming. But Sid is currently hard at work putting things to rights.
I would ask you, however, to make a note in your diaries of the following dates when the events are to take place: Latesummer dinner, Wednesday, September 7; Tennerfest dinner, Wednesday, October 12; late-autumn dinner, Thursday, November 10; Christmas lunch, Saturday, December 10; New Year family luncheon, Sunday, January 8; AGM and dinner, Friday, February 24.
In the meantime Susie and I look forward to welcoming you all to our 'At Home' on Saturday, July 10. Fuller details elsewhere in this newsletter. Then it's off to Janie's on Sunday, August 21, for the Past President's Barbecue. No, there's never a dull moment in Skal Guernsey.
