59th Skål UK National Assembly

Dear Skålleauges,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to visit our wonderful island to attend the Skål International United Kingdom 59th National Assembly in April 2012. (20th to 22nd)

We are delighted to welcome on Friday evening to the National President’s black tie gourmet dinner, Her Majesty’s representative on our island, His Excellency, the Lieutenant-Governor General Sir John McColl KCB CBE DSO and Lady McColl.

Our guest speaker on this evening is Mr Jim Hopley, Chairman of Genuine Jersey speaking on the importance of supporting local producers and their products.

Saturday we have planned a tour of our beautiful island with the first stop being the Chelsea Gold Award Winning Eric Young Orchid Foundation, which has just garnered a plethora of medals at the World Orchid Conference in Singapore.

We continue the tour with the lunch stop combining with a visit to the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust which continues their very good work around the globe and have just achieved the BIAZA Award for conservation breeding of the Pied Tamarin, and Gold Accreditation from the Green Tourism Business Scheme – a good thing which Skål International is rightly keen on promoting.

Those wishing to take part in the fishing or golf competitions need to let us know in advance, so that the necessary arrangements can be made.

The Hotel de France, who are the host venue where we will hold our meetings and dinners, have offered a very generous room rate, which is the same for single occupancy as well as twin/double. They have offered a free extra night for those booking for the Friday and the Saturday night, which can be used for the Thursday before, or the Sunday after. If you wish to stay longer, they will offer you a very special rate.
