National Presidents Newsletter November 08

Dear Skålleagues,

Having just returned from our trip to the Far East for the World Congress over a week ago I still haven’t caught up with either my work or Skål demands!

The World Congress was as always the most enjoyable and rewarding Skål experience of the year and we not only re-acquainted ourselves with old friends from around the Skål World, but also made many more new ones!

After Taipei Caroline and I went on to Hong Kong where fellow Skålleague Ted Theobald looked after us in true Skål fashion and we have many fond memories.

As the Skål hymn goes “God bless our Skål”.

You will have learned from John Bright in his report that London were successful in their bid to host the mid year meeting at the end of April/May 09.

Congratulations on winning the honour to host our International Council and the Executive and I’m sure all of Skål UK is behind London in hosting a very successful event.

I am booked to fly over for the London lunch at the World Travel Market on Tuesday 11th November when President Mats informs me we have the pleasure of hosting new World President Hulya Aslantas and Jim Power so I would encourage as many to attend as possible.

We are also looking forward to attending the Presidents night in Brighton on the 15th Nov, which promises to be a great occasion.

One more fantastic Skål story is how after we had attended the Skål London event in the spring, London President Mats and his wife Lolo visited N. Ireland on a fam trip and the end result was 5 groups to N. Ireland during the summer.

Now if that’s not doing business amongst friends I don’t know what is!

As we all prepare for our Christmas season I would suggest you explore the opportunities there may be for recruitment into Skål as non-members enjoy Skål events.

Also don’t forget our AGM is approaching fast and we would love to see new people coming forward for the National Executive, so please give my executive colleagues or I a call if you are interested. It really is rewarding.

Hope to see you at WTM.

Skål,

Mark W. Alexander - National President
